Life is Tough the Acoustic Version

Friends

These are the times that bring our kind to our knees. Just look at what I’ve had to deal with these past few weeks:

  • A crackhead tried to steal my shoes from outside my apartment. I caught her in the act, but she got away with my Odor Eaters shoe spray and the poop bags I use to pick up my dog’s crap with. I didn’t break her nose.
  • A group of drunk kids spilled beer on my head on the subway while I was reading a book on finance (I’m fun at parties). I yelled and glowered but didn’t break their noses.
  • I received a free coffee at Starbucks because I drink so much damn coffee. I broke that barista’s nose real nice.

Tough times I tell ya!

To lament about what is best in life, I will be playing an acoustic set at The Bitter End on August 20th. It’s a Saturday night and I’m on at 7PM SHARP.

I’m looking forward to this gig – I haven’t played a ‘jest me n’ ma geetar’ acoustic set in over a decade. This set will be the tits. And I am not going to do your typical skinny-kid-in-torn-jeans-trying-to-sound-emo-and-deep shit either. I have class and respect for your sensibilities.

So I hope you get to to help me class your lives up. I won’t break your nose, promise.

As an aside – my new album is coming along great. I’ll have more news for you on that soon.

With love

New Album is Done!

You see this lovely disc in my hand under the light of a Monday full moon? That’s the final master of my new album! It’s done – and it sounds phenomenal. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this sounds like no other rock record out there. I and a few select people put a lot of time and work into this to make it so.

This will be out in the fall of this year. Making all the plans now. Stay tuned. Got a celebratory last minute gig at Hank’s Saloon this Friday in the meantime, if ya feel like coming down and saying hi.

:)

Gig on November 19th and New Album updates

Folks -

I’ve got a gig on November 19th at Fat Baby in NYC. It’s my last gig of 2010, so c’mon down! I’ll be playing new songs with a full band – and it’s sure to be just as fun as real fat babies are.

Check out the facebook event for more info.

Editing for my next album is complete! Now we have to do a few tweaks and start mixing. I’m happy to announce that Nick Cohen- who mixed my last album, Driftwood – will be back mixing two songs on this album. Clay Holley will be mixing the rest of the songs. It’s been pretty amazing to get a chance to work with such amazingly talented people on this album – and I can’t wait to share it with you.

See you on the 19th, ya fat babies!

Rocked the New Material at Fontanas!

Thank you all for coming out to Fontana’s last week to preview some of the tracks off of my next solo album! I had a blast playing them for you – and I’m looking forward to getting in the studio next month and then back out on stage so I can nuzzle your ears even more!

You guys rock!

I have more news coming soon – about the album, shows, band  – EVERYTHING! It’s all moving full steam ahead and, again, thanks for all your love and support.

Check out some sweet pics by Steve Celestin from the show on my Flickr page.

New Album News and a solo Gig in Manhattan

Friends-

I’m entering the studio at the end of July to start recording my next album. It will be the greatest thing you will ever hear ever in the history of recorded music (until either my next album or the release of “Sounds from the Monkey Cage vol. 3″). I’m in the process of writing and polishing up the songs that will comprise the album – so forgive me if I’ve been more reclusive than usual.

Want a sneak peek? Well I’ll be playing some of these new songs live this Friday, June 4 at Fontana’s in Manhattan. I have an 8PM set time and it’s an $8 cover – so just bring 8 of your friends and you’ll have a nice eight-fold path set up for you. See, I treat you nice baby. You still not satisfied? Want more? Well check out the info on the shows page.

I do hope you can make it – and remember, I have demo versions of two of the upcoming songs available for download. Just go to my music page and you can grab Kingdoms and Conversations With a Knife.

See you on Friday my little June Bugs.

Guitarist for Swear On Your Life

Ah friends-

It seems every time I post on here as of late that I’m apologizing for not posting more often or putting out some new music. Well time for another apology! I will ABSOLUTELY start posting new songs up next week. Gilroy, my friendly gnome, told me the timing is right.

In other news, I have joined NYC rockin’ heavy weights Swear On Your Life as their guitar player. Awesome people, awesome band, and I look forward to riffing and shredding off all your faces with them on stage. And then, of course, helping you pick your visage off the floor, reconstruct it perfectly, and resist the urge to make you all look like Cindy Crawford circa 1992.

And in even more news, Swear On Your Life is playing this weekend at Crash Mansion in NYC. We’re on at 10:30. Hope to see you there.

2010 will be kinda huge across the board. Looking forward to it.

Love

Updates and Downlows: Songs, Recording, and More to Vibe With

Unless I get gored during the week by a runaway wildebeest- I’ll be playing this Sunday on June 21st at 7PM at Otto’s Shrunken Head in Manhattan. Come on down for, much like that wildebeest, it’s free! Unless it gets abducted by an alien and becomes a prime representative of our species for exploratory dissection. Thanks wildebeest! Details on the show can be found on my Tour page.

This show will also mark the first live show I’ve played with a bass player in the fold! Please welcome Joe “Joey Baby” Pepitone to the fold. He’ll be holding down the low end and I’m very excited to have him on board.

In two weeks I enter the studio to start demoing songs for my next album. The new songs are coming out great and I look forward to sharing some early recordings with you soon! This time I’ll even remove my bodily fluids from them. If you want a sneak peek soon, then come to the Otto’s show – where we’ll be unveiling at least 5 new songs. Who knows, Fred Hardcastle might even show up.

Joe Renaud, Joey Pepitone and I have been polishing these new songs up – and I think you’re in for a treat. So go to the fridge and make yourself a brownie sandwich or fried cat salad,

mmmm..... Cat Salad

mmmm..... Cat Salad

then put on your reading glasses and peep these new song titles:

Show Me Tomorrow

Conversations with a Knife

The Stolen

Old Sad Laughter

Kingdoms

Wreckage of Liars

Caught in the Wheel

They’re so awesome I italicized them.

More soon, things are in the works.

Oh noes! I gots de flues! Show canceled!

So I have the flu. It sucks. I don’t think it’s of the swinular variety, but the flu is the flu. I won’t be able to play the gig at Corio tonight.

Sorry to all who were going to be there, I’ll make it up to you!

In the meantime, look- puppies!

Feel better!

Flues?
