Mediumship

While I open all of my psychic readings up for spirit to enter via mediumship, for those who wish to connect with specific loved ones who have transitioned to spirit, a mediumship ceremony is a powerful opportunity to hold space for them to communicate with us while honoring their continued souls journey.

During a mediumship ceremony, I involve the participants in rituals for creating a sacred space to invite spirit to connect with us. The creation of this sacred space enables you to feel the energy around spirit and allows me to communicate with them in a deeper more purposeful way than during a reading.

Generally, people want to connect with someone who has moved on to their soul form for a resolution of some kind, to pass on a message, or as part of their grieving process. I believe that honoring spirit through ceremony creates greater space for healing and reflects the impact they made on your life.

I create mediumship ceremonies to be an intimate and powerful healing experience for those dealing with the myriad of emotions that result from the loss of someone. While I have a framework and certain rituals that I use, parts of each ceremony are always custom created for the culture, beliefs, and traditions of the participants.

Common Questions

Where do ceremonies take place?

Generally, ceremonies take place at your home or another place that connects you to your loved ones.

How long is a ceremony?

About 3-6 hours.

How many people can take part in a ceremony?

3-6 is a good range to ensure the ceremony remains intimate. Let’s discuss your needs when we speak, though, to see if more makes sense.

Do you do readings during a mediumship ceremony?

These ceremonies are not psychic readings, but the spirits who come through may have some information for you. If they do, I’ll pass it on.

Do you do mediumship during psychic readings?

Psychic Readings don’t focus on mediumship but, yes, I open the space for every reading to invite mediumship and encourage beneficial spirits to come through. I cannot guarantee the specific spirit you wish to hear from will be there, though.

If you’re booking a psychic reading with the expectations of mediumship, that’s totally ok. But remember that spirit may have other plans for the reading, so accept that it’s a psychic reading first with an open invite for mediumship.

How long should I wait for a mediumship ceremony after a loved one has passed?

I recommend a minimum of 3 months and, ideally, 6 months to a year or more. There’s a few reasons why.

While we don’t know exactly what happens to us when we die, based on my experiences working with spirit there is a period of time after death where we are in a liminal state and haven’t quite moved on to the afterlife yet. Many traditions across the world, such as the Buddhist bardo or Jewish shiva, honor this in-between time period.

During this time period, the focus of the dead is on their transition. And our desire to connect with them through mediumship can lengthen this time for them. Many traditions have psychopomps - beings who help the dead transition - whose role it is to acclimate the dead and accompany them out of this liminal period to their continued journey in the afterlife.

Another factor is your emotional state. If you’re in a state of grief where you’re unable to get out of the house, or see people, or live your life in a semi-standard fashion, then the benefits of ceremony - and mediumship in general - diminish somewhat and might even lengthen your grieving process. I do other work with people to move through grief in a healthy way, if this is something that interests you please get in touch.

So it’s best to wait a bit. For you and them.

Does this mean our loved ones won’t contact us for a while after they’ve passed?

No, not at all. In fact, look for their signs in the days and weeks afterwards letting you know they’re ok. These may take the form of dreams or something in the waking world that makes you unquestionably think of them like an animal or shared symbol or scent. The key here is unquestionably, you will know. In fact, you can often ask for these and define them.

When they’re ready to partner with you and be more assertively acknowledged, such as in a mediumship ceremony, you’ll likely get signs of that as well.
